Designer Konstantin Grcic tells that the design and choice of materials for the Bell were based on the idea of creating a chair that everyone could afford – and at the same time do it as ecologically as possible. The Bell chair is made from recycled polypropylene. The waste is generated by Magis’ own furniture production and from the local car industry. The use of materials is highly minimal, as the chair weighs only 2.7 kilos – that’s more than a kilo less than a normal plastic chair so manufacturing the Bell chair also uses less energy. However, the lightweight Bell seat is extremely durable, and it is possible to stack even up to 24 stools on top of each other. This not only makes Bell easier to store at home or in public spaces but also reduces the carbon footprint of its packaging and logistics.
